Principal’s Message

As we step into Week 9 of the Term, we find ourselves approaching the three-quarter mark of this year’s academic journey. It’s incredible how quickly time has flown by and I’m thrilled to reflect on all the achievements we’ve seen thus far.

Our Year 12’s celebrated 50 Days to Go in Week 7 which means the countdown is on for our Year 12 students, less than 50 school days left of your incredible high school journey!

A message for our Year 12’s, as you approach this milestone, take a moment to reflect on all the hard work, growth and achievements that have brought you here. Each day from now until graduation is a chance to make the most of your time, cherish your friendships and keep pushing towards your goals. You’ve already accomplished so much and we know you’ll finish strong. Let’s make these last days unforgettable! Thank you to Sharon, Renee, Jodie and our Year 11 Hospitality students for the amazing breakfast celebration.

On Wednesday 27 August, our talented Instrumental Music students took the stage for a special evening concert, showcasing their dedication and hard work to family and close friends. Throughout the year, these students have committed to their lessons and ensemble rehearsals, and their performances were a testament to their skill and perseverance. We’re incredibly proud of their achievements and the quality of their music.

Last week, Bradman House held their charity fundraiser, with 12 staff members bravely stepping up for the dunk tank! The event was full of fun and energy, while also raising valuable funds for Beyond Blue. A big thank you to everyone who took part and supported this great cause.

Just this week, we came together as a school community to celebrate R U OK? Day. This important day reminds us of the power of a simple conversation in supporting the wellbeing of those around us. The message is clear: you don’t need to be an expert to reach out. By asking “Are you OK?”, listening with care, and encouraging support when needed, each of us can play a vital role in building a safe, connected and supportive school environment. I encourage you, as parents and carers, to continue these conversations at home. Together, we can build a culture where asking “Are you OK?” becomes part of everyday life.

We look forward to ending the term on a high next week with the House Carnival. This will be a day not to miss with a plethora of activities on offer for all students.

As we continue to build on this momentum, let’s stay focused for the remaining of the school year. We have exciting activities and opportunities ahead, and I’m confident that together, we can finish this year strong.

Ben Ward, Principal

Debating 2025 Wrap Up

This year has been another exciting and successful season for our debating teams with three Junior and one Senior Team in the Competition. Across the competition, students showcased their confidence, teamwork and critical thinking skills, taking on challenging topics and representing our school with pride.

The highlight of the season was our Year 9 team competing in the ENABLE Debating Grand Final against Marsden State High School. Debating the topic “That we should actively encourage the use of AI in the classroom”, our team argued the affirmative side and were victorious, winning the 2025 Junior Competition.

Throughout the competition, many of our students and staff were recognised for their outstanding contributions:

  • Marcus T: Team Spirit (Junior)
  • Ashton D: Leadership (Junior)
  • Maneet K: Leadership (Junior)
  • Virinchi T: Leadership (Junior)
  • BP Junior 2: Most Organised Team (Junior)
  • BP Junior 3: Most Improved Team (Junior)
  • Miss Nonmus: Junior Coach Award
  • Yasir M: Most Valuable Player (Senior)

Congratulations to all our debaters on a fantastic year, and thank you to the teachers, coaches and families who supported them along the way. We can’t wait to see what next year’s season brings!

Book Week & Write a book in a day!

Earlier this term, the I Heart English team facilitated our annual Book Week, celebrating the 2025 theme “Book an Adventure!” Across the school, staff and students from Year 10, 11, and 12 participated in a dress-up day, contributing a gold coin donation that will support our upcoming Write A Book In A Day initiative. Throughout the week, students also earned house points by taking part in trivia, a scavenger hunt, board games and frankenstories. It was fantastic to see so many of our students get involved.

Next week, we will round out the I Heart English festivities for the term with our Write A Book In A Day event. A group of 50 dedicated students have volunteered their time to create and illustrate a book that will be published and shared with children’s hospitals around Australia. This event proudly supports the Childhood Cancer Project and we are incredibly proud of our students for their creativity, generosity and contributions.

Instrumental Music Tour Inspires Future Musicians

On Wednesday 13 August, our talented Instrumental Music students took to the road, visiting several local primary schools to share the joy of music.

The Stage Band, String Ensemble, and Symphonic Wind Ensemble performed for enthusiastic audiences at Regents Park, Boronia Heights, Yugumbir and Browns Plains State Schools. Primary students were captivated by the performances, enjoying the variety of sounds while also learning about the different instruments that make up an ensemble.

This annual tour is a wonderful opportunity for younger students to experience live music and be inspired by what’s possible when joining a music program. We are excited to welcome the Year 7 students of 2026 into our Music Academy and look forward to nurturing the next generation of young musicians.

If you would like to know more about our Instrumental Music Program, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us!

A Night of Musical Brilliance

What an incredible evening of music we experienced at our annual Instrumental Music Night! The event highlighted the extraordinary talents of our students through a rich and diverse program, featuring everything from beautiful melodies to lively rhythms – and even original arrangements by one of our own Year 10 students, Lincoln.

Audiences were treated to performances by our Strings, Flute Choir, Concert Band, Symphonic Winds, Stage Band and even a special appearance from our Teacher Band. Each item showcased the energy, creativity and passion of our performers, leaving the audience inspired and entertained.

This memorable night would not have been possible without the dedication of our staff, the support of our families, and, of course, the commitment of our students. We are incredibly proud of everyone involved – you truly brought the music to life!

Musical Auditions – The Addams Family 2026

The excitement is building as auditions for our 2026 school musical, The Addams Family, have now taken place. Our students have showcased an incredible range of talent, energy and creativity, making the audition process both inspiring and challenging.

We would like to congratulate every student who had the courage to audition. It takes great effort, commitment and confidence to step forward and share your abilities and we are so proud of each of you. Your dedication has already laid the foundation for what promises to be an amazing production.

From singing and acting to movement and character work, students brought their unique personalities and skills into the audition room, giving us a glimpse of the vibrant and dynamic cast that will bring The Addams Family to life. Students were thrilled to receive their roles on at the end of August, marking the official beginning of this exciting journey.

As we begin this journey together, we are excited to build not just a show, but a community – a group united by passion, collaboration and creativity. With such remarkable talent and energy on display, we know this production will be something truly special.

Congratulations again to all who auditioned – we can’t wait to share this adventure with you!
